ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Detective Jabari Howard has been with the Dallas Police Department for 14 years and has served with the department's Gang Unit for 8.5 years. He is currently assigned to the Texoma HIDTA (Hign Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas) as a Task Force Officer with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives-Violent Crimes Group (IV) where he conducts state and federal investigations on criminal organizations and criminal street gang members who use firearms to engage in narcotics trafficking and violent criminal activity.

Detective Howard is a North Regional Director for the Texas Gang Investigators Association. In 2014, he was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the board of the Texas Violent Gang Task Force, which is an ongoing, collaborative effort comprised of criminal and juvenile professionals dedicated to combating gang activity throughout the state. In late 2016, Detective Howard assumed the position of 1st Vice Chairman of the Task Force. Detective Howard conducts gang-specific trainings both locally and abroad to sworn and non-sworn law enforcement personnel, as well as community-based businesses and organziations.
